While serving as a junior high school principal in Porterville, California, I had an idea for a special event for students. This event would offer all students the opportunity to participate in an Olympic type setting focusing on sportsmanship, academics and athletics. The event culminated in an awards assembly that recognized students for their participation, effort and achievement. It was implemented for several years at Bartlett and proved to be a valuable tool for getting kids fired up about school with the added benefit of exciting staff along with the kids.
In February 2012, Bob Pugh and I formed All-American Student Classic LLC©. Since those early days when we had 50 participants we are now averaging 250 plus participants. Staff and school districts are anxiously looking forward to doing it again.
This event will be one that makes a tremendously positive impact on your students, staff and school campus for many years. Morale and self-esteem will surface in many ways as your school annually sponsors the All-American Student Classic.
The All-American Student Classic has certainly been a “Dream Come True”.
